One Person Dead – Another Injured In Crash

Wadhams Road north of Gratiot Avenue remained closed yesterday morning as crews worked to clean up the scene of a fatal accident that occurred Wednesday night.  The two-vehicle accident occurred about 11 p.m. when a car and semi-truck pulling two trailers collided at the intersection of Wadhams and Gratiot in St. Clair Township.  Reports say the driver of the car heading east on Gratiot Avenue, 47 year old Terry Richert,  died after he was ejected from his vehicle onto Wadhams Road during the collision. The driver of the semi which was northbound on Wadhams, escaped the truck’s cab after it rolled and caught on fire. He was transported to an area hospital with injuries there were not believed to be life-threatening.  The accident remains under investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.
