County Commissioners Approve Interlocal Agreement

December 9, 2011
By
St. Clair County commissioners last night approved an interlocal agreement to create an I-69 International Trade Corridor with a vote of 5 to 2.  Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Jeff Bohm, was appointed to to sign the agreement on behalf of the county.   If formed, Commissioner Howard Heidemann will be the county’s representative on the board for the I-69 International Trade Corridor.  Supporters of the corridor hope it would be designated a Next Michigan Development Corp., a program that was signed into law in 2010 by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.  The program is a regional entity that would be charged with marketing the area to logistics, manufacturing, distribution and warehousing companies. The corporation would also work at attracting companies to the area.
