A 29 year old Fort Gratiot resident has been arraigned in connection with a recent rash of malicious destruction of property complaints. On September 5, Port Huron Police received 23 complaints of tires being slashed. On November 3, 2011 police received 5 additional complaints of tires being slashed and 2 windows broken out of a residence. In the latest incident, a witness in the area gave a description of a possible suspect. While on patrol an officer located a subject matching the description of the suspect. The suspect had a knife in his possession that is believed to be have been used in damaging the tires. Johnnie Desoto had been charged with 5 counts of malicious destruction of property stemming from the November 3 incident. Arraignment took place yesterday on the charges stemming from the September 5 incident. Desoto was charged with 1 count of Malicious Destruction of Property $1000-$20,000 as all the damages were congregated into one charge. Bond was set at $10,000 and a preliminary examination has been scheduled.
