Marina Thanks Community

December 26, 2011
By
St. Clair Boat and Marina has issued a formal thank you to all the firefighters from St. Clair Township and the neighbouring Michigan communities of Algonac, and Clay Township for their assistance in battling the recent blaze that destroyed a large storage unit housing several boats. Approximately 60 firefighters in all endured the circumstances and were able to ultimately contain the fire to a single building and preventing additional damage to the adjacent storage building. Most importantly of all – no one was injured.   They also sent thanks to all those who have provided support and encouragement during this time including many from the surrounding boating community who suffered a loss in the fire. They stated their understanding of the loss, while they themselves having lost so much, restores our strength for the future.  The  fire erupted last Tuesday morning at a St. Clair Township marina and is expected to result in damage losses in the millions of dollars.   A storage building housing more than 65 boats and at least four vehicles was engulfed in flames when firefighters from the Port Lambton and Becher stations arrived.
