The Port Huron Police Citizen’s Police Academy is accepting applications for the 10th Annual Citizens’ Police Academy.  The Academy is comprised of local citizens that gather on a weekly basis for twelve  weeks to learn about various aspects of law enforcement and the Port Huron Police Department.  Training involves classroom lecture, hands-on exercises, scenario based training, and a police ride-along.  Participants will also be introduced to the Port Huron Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing program which they say is a vital component of the department’s community policing program and philosophy.  The twelve week program will begin on February 7th and will end on April 24.  Classes are on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Applications and additional information are available at www.porthuronpolice.org   The application deadline is January 13, 2012.
