Citizen’s Police Academy Beginning in February

The Port Huron Police Citizen’s Police Academy is accepting applications for the 10^th Annual Citizens’ Police Academy.  The Academy is comprised of local citizens that gather on a weekly basis for twelve  weeks to learn about various aspects of law enforcement and the Port Huron Police Department.  Training involves classroom lecture, hands-on exercises, scenario based training, and a police ride-along.  Participants will also be introduced to the Port Huron Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing program which they say is a vital component of the department’s community policing program and philosophy.  The twelve week program will begin on February 7^th and will end on April 24.  Classes are on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Applications and additional information are available at www.porthuronpolice.org   The application deadline is January 13, 2012.
