Kickoff For Recall Scheduled

January 2, 2012
By

A kickoff event is planned for this Saturday, January 7th by a group that wants to see state Senator Phil Pavlov recalled.  Volunteers will begin collecting signatures and handing out literature from noon to 5 p.m. at the Blue Water Labor Temple, 2441 W. Water St., Port Huron.  The group needs 20,466 signatures and would like to see the issue on the August 7th ballot, according to  Stewart Sternberg of Algonac, spokesman for the recall group.  Petition language approved in October said Pavlov failed to represent the 25th District when he voted yes on HB 4214, which deals with the authority of emergency managers, and HB 4361, which eliminates or reduces various income tax deductions and credits.   Sternberg says that the group plans more events in St. Clair and Lapeer counties with recall volunteers collecting signatures through early April.
