A 51-year-old Chesterfield Township man was arrested yesterday after taking police officers on a 10-minute-long chase throughout the afternoon over six miles in southern St. Clair County. It is reported that a St. Clair County Sheriff deputy attempted to pull the suspect over for speeding on Church Road near Arnold Road in Ira Township shortly before 3:00 p.m. Monday. The suspect did not stop for the deputy, but, continued turning on to Arnold Road, then Meldrum Road and finally on to M-29. Clay Township Police Department officers joined the St. Clair County Sheriff in the pursuit, and the suspect pulled over of his own accord after the ten minute chase. Officers arrested the suspect for fleeing and eluding capture, and for driving with a suspended license.
