As of last week, United Way of St. Clair County had raised 90% of the $1,450,000 for the 2011 campaign, and according to Executive Director, Lonnie Stevens, they hope more contributions that come in by the end of January, will allow them to meet the goal. Money from the campaign goes to help some 50 different programs provided through some 20 local agencies. Stevens states that if the organization meets or exceeds the 2011 goal, they will be able to rebuild a number of the quality-of-life programs that have been eliminated in past years because of reduced funding.
