Two Departments Battle House Fire

Firefighters from two departments battled a blaze at 1525 Gillett St in Port Huron last evening after responding to the call about 5:15 p.m.   Port Huron and Marysville crews spent the better part of an hour working to extinguish the main body of the fire – then remaining on scene going through the residence looking for hot spots.Gillett was blocked off for some time between 15^th and 16^th Streets.   It is reported that  a resident was home when the fire started, was able to  escape without injury and ran to a neighbor’s home to call 911.  The fire was on the first floor and in the basement of the building.
