Port Huron Police report that a 31-year-old Canton man was taken into police custody after a gun and suspected crack cocaine were found in his possession during a traffic stop at about 11 p.m. Sunday. Officers stopped the vehicle in which the man was a passenger in the 800 block of Howard Street because the vehicle’s taillights were out. The driver, a 54-year-old Detroit man, was found to be driving on a suspended license. The men consented to a search of the vehicle which produced drug paraphernalia. During the search, the 31 year old ran, and was caught by officers a short distance away and a gun and two bags or crack cocaine were found. The Canton man is expected to be charged with possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine, carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm and resisting and obstructing. The driver is expected to be charged with driving on a suspended license.
