Mayor Pro-tem Sherry Archibald says that she in encouraged about the goals Port Huron City Council have set for the year and is excited to see some long-range plans beginning to be looked into. Port Huron City Council was introduced last evening to a new proposal from Saint Clair County Commission Chair Jeff Bohm that could see the current county courthouse relocated and an already half opened piece of property become ready for development, but those types of moves may be well in the future. Council decided to postpone making a decision on allowing the funding for three additional police officers to the department’s budget, allowing further discussion between the Police Chief and Sheriff as to their needs. An update was also given by city Engineer Bob Clegg, concerning refuse collection -and a few proposed changes in the large brush and leaf pick up schedules. Officials are expected to a ask for a one-year extension on current services, and Council is expected to decide that issue at their next meeting later this month.
