Baker College of Port Huron, in cooperation with the St. Clair County KnowHow2Go initiative, will offer the first in a series of free career spotlight workshops on Friday, February 24, 2012, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., 3403 Lapeer Road, Port Huron. “It’s All Business!” is open to all high school students and their parents, and anyone else interested in furthering their education and wishing to learn about opportunities in the exciting field of business administration. Susan Porrett, Baker College of Port Huron dean of business administration, and members of the business faculty will present a number of topics, including:
• Why people with business education and training are in high demand in today’s workplace
• The skills necessary for a successful career in business
• Matching specific skills to various business career choices
• Employment outlook, wages, job titles, educational requirements

The American Council on Education, the Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council launched the KnowHow2Go campaign in 2007 in order to help turn students’ college dreams into action-oriented goals. In St. Clair County, a KnowHow2Go initiative was formed to “create a path toward higher education.” A broad coalition of organizations is implementing a coordinated effort to increase the number of students graduating from high school and pursuing post-secondary degrees, including certificates, and associate and bachelor’s degrees. Baker College of Port Huron, as one of the original partners of the initiative, will present a series of informational workshops in addition to “It’s All Business!”
