February 16, 2012

An intruder in a home in the 1300 block of Thompson Avenue in Port Huron this past Saturday got a surprise, when the 101 year old woman living in the home was able to call for help immediately, by triggering her medical alarm that dials family members and 911.  When she advised the suspect she had notified the police, he left the residence and she remained safe.  According to FBI criminal profiler Candice DeLong, the most important thing homeowners can do to protect themselves is to make sure that doors and windows are locked at all times.  Take your keys with you when you go out, even for a minute…DeLong said if you leave a door open you may walk back in and meet your killer.  Don’t open the door unless you are certain of the identity of the person, and if you are abducted, make all the noise you and disruption you can in order to attract attention.  Port Huron Police continue to be on the lookout for this suspect who is described as a white male in his 20s, with an average build and about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing a tan sweatshirt under a tan, hooded jacket with tan pants. He wore a turquoise-colored neck warmer covering his lower face.  If you have information about this crime can call the CAPTURE hotline at (810) 987-6688.
