(THE TIMES HERALD) According to a report in the Times Herald, The Michigan State Police bomb squad disposed of a 40 mm practice round from a grenade launcher at a residence in the 2000 block of Henry Road in Port Huron Township last evening. A Port Huron Township man who lives at the residence said he found the round on the side of Ashley Road in Kimball Township yesterday. After bringing the round back to his house and placing it outside his garage, the man called authorities about 5:20 p.m. Monday because he was concerned the round was live. Firefighters determined the round did not pose a threat, as it was inert, but took all precautionary measures in notifying neighbors. The state police unit from Lapeer was dispatched to take care of the round. Port Huron Township Firefighters say it is rare for a person outside of the military to have the practice round, and speculated that it was someone’s war souvenir.
