The final performance of the 57th season of Town Hall was headlined by former Major League Baseball pitcher, Jim Abbott. Abbott also was asked to do a repeat talk at 7 pm last evening for the community. The young man who graduated from Flint Central High School, here in Michigan enjoyed a distinguished baseball career, playing, despite having been born without a right hand. He pitched in college, went on to win a gold medal in the Olympics, and then played for the California Angels, the New York Yankees, the Chicago White Sox, and the Milwaukee Brewers, from 1989 to 1999. He threw a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians in 1993. – Abbott is a motivational speaker who moved the crowd with his triumphs and failures, and his determination to adapt, the acronym he used throughout his presentation.
