St. Patrick’s Day means putting on the green, and area residents are preparing to do that with a variety of activities. Last night Lexington kicked off their celebration with the annual ShamRockin’ Pub Crawl. Music and Irish food filled restaurants and pubs throughout downtown during the crawl. Today, giant shamrocks decorate the street poles and the village will complete the celebration with a parade at 2 p.m. An awards ceremony for parade participants takes place afterward at the Old Town Hall Winery, 5475 N. Main St. In Port Huron, the CelticFest 2012 Grand Marshal’s Parade Party took place last night at the Port Huron Yacht Club. This year’s grand marshal is Alice Rieves, director of Mid City Nutrition. The Leprechaun Loop begins this morning at 9 am at the Blue Water YMCA – at noon the St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at Pine Grove Park. The parade is followed by a pub crawl from 1:30 to 7 p.m. with 17 restaurants and taverns participating.
