An alleged stalker has been taken off the streets and returned to St. Clair County jail. Nicholas Hamilton, who is charged with stalking a minor and third time habitual offender, was released March 29 on a $30,000 cash surety bond. Circuit Judge James Adair ruled Hamilton be released on a tether Tuesday after the prosecution motioned to revoke bond and hold Hamilton in custody during the court proceedings. Nicholas Hamilton was taken into police custody Wednesday and an emergency motion was filed by the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office to revoke his bond. Reports say it appears that Hamilton failed to comply with one of the bond conditions, by not re-charging the tether. Circuit Judge Cynthia Lane ruled yesterday afternoon that the 39-year-old will remain in jail after violating those bond conditions.
