Filing Deadline Coming Up

Paul Muxlow

The filing deadline for candidates running for the state Legislature is coming up at 4 p.m. on may 15 to compete in the August 7th primary election.  As of the first of this week, Rep. Andrea LaFontaine, had two contenders in the race for representative in the State House 32nd District.  Four candidates have filed for an open seat in State House 81st District.  The district’s current representative, Rep. Jud Gilbert, is not able to run for re-election due to term limits.  Rep. Paul Muxlow, R-Brown City, has filed to run for re-election to serve the 83rd district and as of Tuesday, no other candidates had filed to run for that position.  State Sens. Phil Pavlov and Mike Green, who represent the state’s 25th and 31st districts respectively, have terms that run through 2014. Both are in their first term as state senators and can run for reelection at that time.
