Branding Port Huron

May 8, 2012
By

When people think of Frankenmueth, they immediately think of chicken.   It is their brand and it is well known nation wide.  So when people think of  Port Huron, what do you think comes to their minds?  Do they think we are the boyhood home of Thomas Edison?  Midway on the Seaway?  The Maritime Capitol of the Great Lakes?  The Bluewater Area?  Home to the Bluewater Bridges?  Where Blue Meets Green?  While these  might be common slogans us locals use, they probably mean little to people around the rest of the state.  Many say we should be developing our tourism industry.  If so, we best decide on what makes us unique, and don’t just say our water.  Have you looked around the state?  Michigan is the “water wonderland.”  Until we agree on our brand and market it effectively, we may never be a the kind of destination that causes people to say, “Hey, let’s go Port Huron for the weekend.”
