The Port Huron Museum is celebrating
Mother’s Day on Saturday May 12. The earliest evidence of Mother’s Day was celebrated by the ancient Egyptians. They would hold a festival of Isis, the mother of the Pharaohs. Early Mother’s Day celebrations in America started just after the Civil War and eventually became a national observance in 1914. Festivities planted the seed for what would blossom into today’s Mothers Day. You are invited to celebrate Mom with a hand painted flower pot. They will also be teaching a little about gardening as flowers are planted in the pots. (Just in time for the perfect Mother’s Day gift!) This 1 1/2 hour program begins promptly at 1 pm, costs $6 per person and $4 per museum member. Pre-registration is recommended, with a maximum of 25 persons per program. 10 person minimum required for all historic programs
