The 35 year old Port Huron man accused of slashing his cousin was arraigned this week in Port Huron’s 72nd District Court. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, Michael Coronado was charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder during arraignment proceedings before Judge John Monaghan. Coronado was involved in an argument with his cousin, 37 year old Juan Sembrano of Port Huron. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Sembrano was slashed several times. Sembrano was transported to Mercy Hospital in Port Huron for treatment of his injuries. Coronado was taken to Port Huron Hospital for treatment, then transported to the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center. Coronado is being held on a ten-thousand dollar cash/surety bond. He is scheduled to be back in court for a preliminary exam on May 15th at 9:30 a.m.
