Teresa and Dave Teets (a former employee here at WGRT) are a special couple who have a very special family. They enjoy a son and two daughters. Maggie is the youngest, and the Teets family has been loving Maggie tirelessly since she entered their home about ten years ago. At the age of two months Maggie’s biological father, abused her, leaving her with cognitive and physical disabilities, including issues related to cerebral palsy as well as mental impairment. Maggie is also blind. But, in many respects, she is like many other youngsters. She loves to play, run and has plenty of energy. Maggie has been entered in the running to win a specialized bicycle in the Friendship Circle of Michigan’s first Great Bike Giveaway.The vote continues until 4 p.m. today in the Facebook contest. The contest is set up to provide 14 specialized bikes for children with special needs. Teresa says the bike would allow Maggie to be included in family outings and develop both physically and mentally.
