Roadwork Returns To Wadhams Road Bridge

Roadwork returned to the Wadhams Road Bridge yesterday and with that work comes daily lane closures as crews apply an epoxy surface coating to the bridge’s concrete deck.  According to authorities, the coating is expected to protect the bridge against salt and snow plowing damage, as well as keeping water from penetrating the deck.  It is needed to avoid possible water leak, because repair work done to level the two halves of the bridge last year created an extra joint in the bridge,  Authorities say a minimum of one lane of traffic will be open in each direction on the bridge, and it should take just about one week as long as the weather holds.  The sealer is expected to last at least 20 years.  There is also work being done to finish up the bridge’s electronic monitoring system, as well as grading and seeding on the land under the bridge.
