Sandusky Man Held In Shooting

Sanilac County Sheriff Gary Biniecki

A Sandusky man was being held in jail after allegedly shooting at his ex-girlfriend in the early hours Sunday, according to a news release from the Sanilac County Sheriff Department.  Reports say the incident occurred at a residence in the 2000 block of W. Sanilac Road in Moore Township when a reportedly intoxicated 52-year-old Sandusky man stopped by to talk to a 47-year-old Sandusky woman, the news release stated.  During the conversation, the woman confronted the man about a missing handgun at which time, he pulled the gun out and shot at the woman, just missing her and attempting to fire again, according to the news release.  She and several other adults at the residence held down the suspect until police arrived at the scene. There were no injuries.  He is at the Sanilac County Jail on a $1 million bond and arraignment was expected to take place yesterday.  The incident remains under investigation.
