House Approves Banning Of K2

The Michigan House has approved legislation that allows law enforcement and health officials to ban synthetic marijuana and other drugs from stores as actions rise against products linked to health problems and violent behavior.  The House measure passed unanimously Wednesday and would allow the state to identify and eliminate illegal, mind-altering drugs regardless of the name or form they take. The products would be temporarily categorized as a controlled substance.  The legislation moves on to the Senate.  The bill package lists chemical classifications that are prohibited and grants Michigan State Police authority to remove those drugs from stores by July 1 if businesses haven’t done so.  At least 40 states have banned synthetic cannabinoids, as synthetic marijuana is formally known, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
