Port Huron City Council Agrees To Organizational Chart of Combined Fire Departments

Mayor Pauline Repp

Port Huron City Council had up for discussion at last night’s meeting, the rezoning of a number of properties along St. Clair Street as well as deciding whether to vacate an alley that runs behind them.  Prior to the construction of the Thomas Edison Inn, a number of homes lined the east side of St. Clair Street, with the alley providing access.  Those homes were purchased and demolished with the building of the Inn.  The motion passed.  Council also approved the organizational chart for the merged Port Huron and Marysville fire departments.   The chart shows two departments, sharing a fire chief, reported to both city managers.  The chart was approved a couple of weeks ago by Marysville city officials, and Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp says the public will not see a difference in services, as there is only one position left vacant through attrition.  It was unfilled last year, and was eliminated in this year’s budget.
