Windquest was the first boat in the Mackinac race to cross the finish line. Doug DeVos is the owner of the 86-footer out of Macatwa Bay Yacht Club, that finished at 5:30 p.m., well ahead of its competitors. It’s a longshot to win its class, however, as it features a very high rating. According to the race’s GPS tracker, the boat was projected to wind up eighth in its class when it finished. Windquest took 27 hours, 50 minutes and 36 seconds to complete the Cove Island Course and was 20 nautical miles ahead of its closest competitor, Natalie J.
