The man accused of causing the death of a 49 year old Algonac man was arraigned this week in Marine City’s 72nd District Court.  According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, 40 year old James Gill of New Baltimore has been charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, driving while license suspended causing death, leaving the scene of a serious injury accident and operating while intoxicated, third offense.  The charges stem from a August 12th crash which saw Gill cross the centerline of Dixie Highway in Ira Township and hit head-on a motorcycle driven by Timothy Clore of Algonac.  Clore was pronounced dead at the scene.  Gill fled the area.  He was observed by witnesses of the accident and eventually located at his home on Baltimore Street in New Baltimore.  Gill is being held at St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center in lieu of a $500-thousand cash/surety bond.  His next court date is scheduled for August 22nd at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Mike Hulewicz in Marine City’s 72nd District Court.
