Three Injured In Crash

Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash Tuesday  morning in the 5500 block of Lakeshore Road. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the crash occurred about 10:15. A pickup truck driven northbound by 28 year old Melissa Helmold of Applegate crossed the centerline and struck head-on a van driven by 73 year old Lawrence DeMeyer of Lexington.  DeMeyer’s dog was killed in the crash.  Helmold, a passenger in her car, 30 year old Jeremy Whitenight of Fort Gratiot and DeMeyer were all injured and transported to local hospitals by Tri-Hospital EMS.  Neither Helmold nor Whitenight was wearing a seatbelt.   Fort Gratiot Township and Burtchville Township Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.  Lakeshore Road was closed for about two hours following the incident.
