Recount Begins

September 6, 2012
By

Final numbers should be in tomorrow for the recount of the August primary election ballots asked for by candidate Bob Eick, who ran against incumbent Paul Muxlow for the 83rd District State Representative seat.  Eick asked for the recount at his cost, upon the urging of many residents.  Representative Muxlow received 132 votes over Eick in the August primary, and according to election officials, recounts are often requested when numbers are that close.  Recount will begin today in Sanilac County and continue tomorrow in St. Clair County, specifically those precincts in Port Huron, Fort Gratiot and Burtchville Townships.  If an appeal is asked for by either candidate then the process continues with the state board of canvassers.
