The community presentation at St. Clair County Community College by social activist and writer Tom Hayden, principal author of the Port Huron Statement, will air on Comcast Cable Channel 12, in its entirety, at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. Hayden’s visit to SC4 was one of several speaking engagements he made to mark the 50th anniversary of the Port Huron Statement, a political manifesto crafted in 1962 by the Students for a Democratic Society. The group, which Hayden co-founded, became a national leader in protesting various issues in the 1960s, including the Vietnam War and racial segregation.
