SJMPH Requires Influenza Vaccine For All Health Care Professionals

September 18, 2012
By

As a healthcare facility dedicated to improving the health of the community, St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron (SJMPH) is joining other Trinity Health Ministry Organizations and the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System in requiring the seasonal influenza vaccine for all healthcare personnel (HCP) including associates, contracted associates, physicians, volunteers, vendors and students.  A policy undertaken over the past few years by other hospitals within the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, SJMPH is simply joining with all major healthcare systems in southeast Michigan that have voluntarily adopted a mandatory influenza policy for HCP.  This mandatory requirement applies to all SJMPH associates – clinical and non-clinical – as well as physicians, vendors, volunteers and students who have direct paid care. The vaccine will be provided free of charge to healthcare personnel, with clinical contracted personnel and vendors required to show proof of immunization.
