The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office got a little more training than they had planned Sunday in the St. Clair River. According to Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the Dive Team was conducting a training exercise Sunday morning, performing drift dives from Dive Team boats between Pine Grove Park and Black River. Shortly after 10:30, Dive Team observed a woman walking to the edge of the water at the foot of Lincoln Street…. She is reported to have continued to walk into the river. The 41 year old woman from Port Huron began to struggle in the river. A diver got in the water, kept the woman afloat and he and other Dive Team members helped the woman into the boat. Port Huron Police say the woman, who was hypothermic, was transported to Port Huron Hospital. It is unknown why the woman had walked into the water, but it is certain her life was saved by Dive Team members who, after the rescue, continued with their regularly scheduled training session.
