A motorist had to be transported to the hospital after reportedly running his truck into a utility pole in Sandusky around 7:30 p.m. Friday. Sanilac County deputies were called to the accident at Cooper and South Townline roads and upon arrival, found a 1999 red Ford F150 pickup under a utility pole that had been broken off when it was struck by the pickup. The 19 year old man from Imlay City was reportedly making an attempt to climb out of the pickup against advice from officers. He was then removed from the truck by Sandusky Fire Department and taken by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Hospital for treatment. Officers say the driver was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, and alcohol is believed to have been a factor. The accident is under investigation.
