Fight Leads To Prison

Thirty-five-year-old Edward McClarty of Port Huron pleaded guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and guilty as a second habitual offender when he appeared in court on Monday of this week.  According to St. Clair County Prosecutor Mike Wendling, McClarty to 7 and ½ to 15 years in prison.  McClarty, Lavonn Edwards Jr. and Jovonte Brenton were charged after an April 6 fight in the parking lot of CJ’s Bar and Grill in Port Huron Township.  Twenty-four year old Edwards and twenty-year old Brenton are scheduled to be sentenced at 2 p.m. Monday in front of St. Clair County Circuit Judge Daniel Kelly. Edwards pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. Brenton pleaded guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
