Crash Sends One To Hospital – Causes Road Detour For Hours

November 14, 2012
By

A two-vehicle crash yesterday that occurred in front of St. Edward On The Lake Catholic Church on Lakeshore Road saw a 38 year old Croswell woman injured.  Cheryl Lynn Phillips, suffered multiple broken bones, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department, and was transported to St. John Hospital in Detroit. Reports say a beet  truck, driven by Gerald Agar, was going northbound on M-25 when a car going southbound swerved into the northbound lane. The beet truck clipped the car causing both vehicles to lose  control and the truck went into a ditch.  North and southbound M-25 was closed between Washington Street and Myrtle Road following the crash. Members of the St. Clair County Hazardous Materials Team were called to the scene because the semi’s saddle tank was punctured and it was leaking diesel fuel. The Burtchville Township and Fort Gratiot fire departments responded to the scene along with the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.   An investigation into the cause of the accident continues.
