During its annual meeting Thursday, Nov. 15, the SC4 Alumni Association named Robert W. Carson of Fort Gratiot as its Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. The event was at Quay Street Brewing Co. in Port Huron. Carson graduated from St. Clair County Community College and the University of Michigan. He went on to earn a law degree from what was then the University of Detroit Law School. Carson is a senior partner with Fort Gratiot law firm McIntosh, McColl, Carson and Strickler. He has been on the March of Dimes Board of Directors since 1975 and is past president of the Port Huron Golf Club in Fort Gratiot. He also volunteers with Autism Speaks in St. Clair County. He is a member and past president, as well as Scholarship Committee chair, of the SC4 Alumni Association Board. He has been chair of the Alumni Golf Classic for the past 14 years. Also at the meeting, the association elected a new president, Marshall J. Campbell of Fort Gratiot, and re-elected Vice President Dan L. DeGrow of Burtchville Township and Treasurer Thomas L. Coleman of Fort Gratiot. Also at the meeting, the association elected a new board member, Rebekah Smith of St. Clair Township. Board members re-elected were Scott J. Babin of Port Huron, Tyrone C. Burrell of Port Huron, Robert W. Carson of Fort Gratiot, Dr. Robert W. Coulter of Port Huron, Dr. S.L. Husain Hamzavi of Bloomfield, Nancy E. Klemmer of Burtchville Township and Thomas F. Obee of Columbus Township. Board members serve two-year terms. Membership in the alumni association is free and open to all SC4 graduates, students past or present, and friends of the college.
