Meningitis Outbreak Infected 211 Michigan Residents

Associated Press – According to a report by the Associated Press, Michigan authorities say a national outbreak of fungal meningitis linked to contaminated steroids has infected at least 211 people in Michigan, an increase in 10 in the past three days.  The Michigan Department of Community Health says there have been 67 meningitis cases as of Wednesday. There also have been 128 epidural abscesses, one stroke and 14 joint infections.  There have been 13 deaths in Michigan, including three state residents who died after contracting infections in Indiana.  The meningitis outbreak is linked to contaminated steroids produced by a Massachusetts pharmacy used in injections for neck or back pain.
