St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron has announced that effective Monday, February 4, 2013, Robert Camara, DO, will serve as the organization’s Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Camara replaces Philip Matich, MD, who resigned as Vice President of Medical Affairs, effective September 14, 2012. A local family practice physician who has served in leadership roles as Medical Director for the Mercy Family Care Network, Mercy Hospice and Peoples’ Clinic for Better Health, Dr. Camara will lead the organization in medical staff development and serve as a liaison between the medical staff, Board of Trustees, administration and St. Joseph Mercy and Trinity Health. He will oversee medical practices in order to ensure and promote high-quality medical care in the community. In addition to serving as CMO for St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron in a part-time capacity, Dr. Camara will continue to provide primary medical care through Mercy Family Care – Marysville. Dr. Camara comes to SJMPH with a long-time commitment to the mission and a deep understanding of the organization. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1997, and completed his residency program through Oakland Hospital Madison Heights, MI.
