Deputies located the suspect, a 52 year old Clay Township man. He resisted arrest and had to be tasered to be placed in custody for assault and battery and resisting and obstructing a police officer. A 47 year old Clay Township woman interfered with deputies making the arrest and she was arrested for resisting and obstructing. About 2:30 this morning, deputies were called to the 1200 block of Minnesota Road in Port Huron Township for a reported large fight. When deputies arrived, people began running. Family members in the house tried to talk to the 47 year old, but he walked to another area of the house and fired a shot. The family members left the home. Four patrol cars from the Sheriff’s Office arrived on location and after nearly three hours of talking, the man came out the house. He was transported by Tri Hospital EMS to Port Huron Hospital for psychological evaluation. Capac Police, Almont Police and Michigan State Police all assisted at the incident. While that incident was happening, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from the 4300 block of Lapeer Road in Port Huron Township. The caller said a man was pounding on his door asking for help from the police. The caller said the man’s face was covered in blood. Deputies responded and checked the area, but were unable to locate the man. According to Sheriff Donnellon, all night shift cars were held over yesterday morning because of the high call volume. “It was an incredibly busy night,” said Sheriff Donnellon. “I am proud of the effort and dedication of my deputies in the performance of their duties. I also appreciate the assistance of other departments in some of the incidents that happened overnight.”
