The first meeting of 2013 was held yesterday by the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners as commissioners took their oath of office, Chairman Jeff Bohm and Vice Chairman Steve Simasko were reappointed to their posts and newly elected officers, Karl Tomion and Tom Reilly were sworn in as well. Tomion previously served as the city manager of Port Huron, while Reilly served as a commissioner from 2002-04. Part of the evening’s business included appointments to the county’s solid waste committee, a 14-member committee that will work on amending the county’s solid waste plan in order to allow outside trash to come into the county. Former commissioner Tim Ward was appointed to the committee, along with John Jones; both as general public representative; Jeff Vore, owner of Jeff’s Rubbish Disposal, was given one of the solid waste management industry positions and Marysville City Manager Jason Hami was appointed as a city government representative. The appointments leave two vacancies on the board, one general public representative and one solid waste management industry official.
