According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, a Sheriff’s patrol vehicle was westbound on Marine City Highway, heading for I-94. The car was heading through the intersection of County Line Road when a vehicle heading eastbound went into the turn lane, struck a vehicle from behind, then veered into the path of the patrol unit. The patrol unit was sideswiped. Deputies in the car were uninjured and went to check on the passengers in the other two cars. When they checked the vehicle that struck them, they observed two men in the vehicle and a handgun. During the investigation into the accident, the driver of the vehicle that struck the patrol car, a 26 year old man from New Haven was arrested and lodged on charges of operating while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon. The passenger in that vehicle, a 27 year old New Haven man was arrested on an outstanding Friend of Court warrant. Both men were transported to Port Huron Hospital for treatment prior to being lodged at the Intervention and Detention Center
