Lake effect snow watch in effect from late tonight through
Thursday morning… The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a lake effect snow watch… which is in effect from late tonight through Thursday morning.

Hazardous weather… intense lake effect snowfall is possible after midnight through Thursday morning. Potential for snow accumulations in excess of 8 inches. Visibilities could be reduced to near zero in the most intense snow squalls.

Impacts… travel could be greatly compromised as a result of snow covered roads and reduced visibility – especially during the overnight hours. The dry nature of the lake effect snow will also allow for greater blowing and drifting potential. Precautionary/preparedness actions… a lake effect snow watch means there is a potential for a large amount of snow in only a few hours. Visibilities and depth of snow can vary greatly… impacting travel significantly. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
