Teams from Yale and Carsonville-Port Sanilac high schools won the 2013 Regional High School Quiz Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 2, sponsored by St. Clair County Community College and the SC4 Alumni Association. Yale High School won the A and B division, while Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School won the C and D division. Each team received a trophy and medals; each winning high school received one $500 scholarship to SC4. Second-place teams were Capac High School in the A and B division and Brown City High School in the C and D division.

Second-place teams were awarded a trophy and medals. In addition, teams participated from nine other high schools: Algonac, Croswell-Lexington, Imlay City, Marysville, Port Huron and Port Huron Northern in the A and B division and Marlette, Peck and Sandusky in the C and D division. Quiz bowl is a double-elimination competition testing students on a broad range of topics from history and mathematics to grammar and current events. The purpose is to focus attention on excellence in the classroom and reward students who strive to be the best. This year’s event drew 76 students, 18 advisors and 23 volunteers.
