State Rep. Dan Lauwers has been selected as an assistant whip for the 2013-2014 Michigan House legislative session. Lauwers says, he is delighted with the assignment because it gives him the opportunity to take a leadership role in the Michigan House. He says his first priority is to help guide legislation that encourages economic development and improves the quality of life for families in St. Clair County and Michigan as a whole. As a whip, Lauwers will be responsible for helping inform caucus members of key issues on the House floor. It is a job of critical importance for his caucus. House Majority Whip Pete Lund announced the appointment. Lauwers also was recently appointed to the committees on Agriculture; Energy and Technology; Transportation; and Michigan Competitiveness. “There’s definitely a tremendous energy level at the state Capitol as we begin the committee process and work to reform state government and encourage economic development,” Lauwers said. “Although much has been accomplished in Lansing, there is still much we can do to make Michigan a better place for all residents.”
