SOS Services for Veterans

February 12, 2013
By

Ruth Johnson

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and state veterans advocates announced several initiatives last week, which will assist more than 680,000 military veterans who live in Michigan, including a proposal to distribute veterans benefits information through Secretary of State branch offices and adding a veteran designation on driver’s license or ID cars to allow veterans easier access to private sector discount programs. “Michigan veterans have put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms,” Johnson said. “In return, we must do more as a state to serve those who have served and ensure that when they enter civilian life, they have the resources available to succeed. Placing a veteran designation on driver’s licenses and ID cards will help connect veterans with the resources they deserve.” If you live in St. Clair County, you can call the St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs for more information. The number is 989-69-45.
