St. Clair County Community College invites community residents to show their support for the Skippers women’s basketball team at a National Tournament Send-off Rally from noon to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in the SC4 Gymnasium. The rally also will serve as the first public appearance and introduction of “Skip,” the new Skippers athletic mascot. The Skippers are heading to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Tournament at Illinois Central College in East Peoria. Tournament games will run from March 19 to 23. The rally, with events planned for all ages, will include brief presentations from head women’s basketball Coach Michael Groulx, Director of Athletics Dale Vos and Vice President of Student Services Pete Lacey. Those attending will get to meet and hear from the players, as well as greet “Skip.”The women’s basketball team qualified for the national tournament Saturday, March 9. The Skippers beat Delta College, 72-56, in the NJCAA District H Championship at Delta.
