The St. Clair County Community College Skippers women’s basketball team will plays its first game in the 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Tournament at 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, March 20. The tournament runs March 19 to 23 at Illinois Central College in East Peoria. SC4 will take on Elgin (Ill.) Community College in Wednesday’s game. SC4 was the No. 4 seed out of 16 for the tournament. Elgin was the No. 13 seed. Heading into the tournament, SC4’s record is 30-1 and Elgin’s is 26-6. The winner of Wednesday’s game will play at 9 p.m. EDT Thursday, March 21. The loser will play at 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, March 21. Local fans can watch live webcasts of the tournament games. The SC4 women’s basketball team qualified for the national tournament Saturday, March 9, by beating Delta College, 72-56, in the NJCAA District H Championship at Delta. The Skippers are ranked fifth in the nation, according to the latest NJCAA Division II poll, which was released Tuesday, March 5.
