The three suspects involved in home invasions in Riley and Columbus Townships were arraigned Friday in 72nd District Court. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, 25 year old Adrian Evans and 40 year old Mario Burrell are each charged with two counts of home invasion second degree. 27 year old Timothy Bennett is charged with three counts of home invasion second degree and fleeing and eluding police officer 3rddegree. The incident began about 10:30 Wednesday morning with a breaking and entering alarm at a residence in the 6000 block of Springborn Road. When deputies arrived, a neighbor told them a silver Pontiac G-6 had pulled out of the driveway shortly before their arrival. A broadcast was put out for that vehicle. About an hour later, a citizen called reporting a suspicious vehicle matching the vehicle’s description. Deputies located the vehicle a short time later on Gratiot Road near Rattle Run Road. A short chase ended with the suspect vehicle losing control and spinning into a ditch in the 7700 block of Gratiot. The three ran from the vehicle. Burrell and Evans were caught a short time later without incident. Bennett broke into a house in the 7600 block of Gratiot to hide. He was located in the residence by the Sheriff’s Office K-9 team and taken into custody.
Evans, Burrell and Bennett are currently held in the St. Clair County Intervention Center on $50-thousand cash/surety bonds. Their next court date is scheduled for April 2nd in 72ndDistrict Court.
