A year-long investigation by Port Huron Police, has led to federal charges for the owner of Goldie’s Loans and Sales. According to reports, the investigation began in April of 2012 after Police were led to believe compliance with the state’s precious metals and gem act, which requires documentation, was not being met. According to an affidavit filed with the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, several purchases had been made at the store by informants and undercover law enforcement officials. In total, 15 firearms were purchased during the investigation. Members of the Port Huron police department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms raided the store, 1133 10th Ave., Tuesday. 60 year old Dennis Eugene McAtamney, was arrested on a federal charge of dealing in firearms without a license. Officials seized eight long guns, including an assault rifle, and three hand guns during the search. Gold, silver, cash and illegal controlled substances.
